Woav that was a super deal, hope lots picked this up and they did in
fact have lots for sale. More love for the Vita. Excited, but also a bit
nervous to see what games will launch for the Vita in 2013, now that
devs knows the system and it's slowly starting to have a bigger audience.

It wasn't my cup of tea, but it is a beautiful game and fun to play overall. Lots of little nods to people who know the lore while still being friendly to newcomers.

Didn't they show God of War single player off at E3? There's also the demo on the Total Recall disc.

Well if your right GoW Ascensions should get very poor reviews, and poor sales which means that Santa Monica Studios won't invest in any more of them = Lesson Learned correct?

Excellent thoughts. God of War is definitely the one that stands out for me. As to where other games that tack on MP if they think it's decent they use an entirely separate team or studio. This in effect makes sure the SP end of the project is being treated properly. With God of War they have shown and acknowledged that many lead team members are split between the two. Not only that from day one it was mandated that they would do MP, whether it be good or not, they have also showed that is has taken a ton of effort (that these leads could have put into SP) to even get a decent working MP. Also as a true fan of the franchise, the over-selling they are trying for MP is really tiresome. So they really don't want to focus on the main "goods" until a month before launch? Just very bad product handling if the SP is indeed on par with other games as they keep saying it may be. Oh well, still getting this day one. Hate how it has been handled, hate that it splits time between components for the leads, and hate that they are trying their hardest to force the MP down our throats.... sorry, the beta falls far short of the great God of War caliber.

It is perplexing, especially since it's Sony-developed and the original release had English language. I can sort of understand the reasoning if the situation was with a third-party application that was held up for a short time to iron out some licensing issues or something, but an internally developed app like this shouldn't have encountered difficulty at all.

I'd LOVE to know what "hurdles" they had to overcome for Wake-up Club. I know of games that had to work out issues with music licensing, voice actor compensation, etc., but I'm not seeing any such obstacles in this particular case.

You're right in that Sony sorely needs to find some way of unifying the submission process for developers that want to release their software globally. This isn't just "Sony vs. Nintendo vs. Microsoft" anymore, either--there are many more avenues for developers to release games, such as PC (e.g. Steam), iOS, Android, and more. I don't know what these other guys do differently than Sony (developer support, ratings board submission, legal) that makes their processes so much smoother, but Sony needs to figure out the formula quickly.

Yes, I agree with you... However in this case the game was unchanged from its original version, outside of the Japanese language being removed. The original version even had english.

Localization takes time and resources.
It's about priorities - a japaneese game like Gravity Rush made by Japan Studios aswell, were probably higher prioritized than this alarm-clock community with trophies by Japan Studios - hence it took 4 months to bring it to the west.
Sure, you could delay the japaneese release, until the english version is done, but I don't really see the point of doing that.

However, I doub't they spent 9 months on localizing this, no matter how constraint resources were. Most likely both SCEA and SCEE might have wanted to see how much use this untested app got in Japan, before deciding to release it over here.

Interesting points, also how long does EU has to wait this time or are we in for another CS:GO farce.

I like Sony products, but some areas of their services are so frustrating, that it clearly scaring away customers. This alarm clock app for Vita is a great example of some of the problems Sony are managing with and another fine example is the store for PS3, which is a complete disaster in term of speed, usability and stability.

I believe there are many many great people at SCE, but they seem hindered by poor leadership, who doesn't focus on the real problems and give their employees the right "tools".
